Ye Olde Crown

The Ye Olde Crown is a 1500s coaching inn located on Rayleigh High Street. Recently refurbished in 2019 it brings a cosy pub atmosphere to the bustling and historic High Street.

There’s a good range of food from pub classics, plus burgers, steaks and curries. I like that there is a pick and mix menu of sharing bits too if you just want a snack. To wash down your meal or just have a little tipple there’s a wide selection of gin (my personal plus point of any establishment!), draught lagers, craft beers, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.

The Ye Olde Crown show the football and horse racing alongside offering darts, a pool table and juke box to choose your own tunes. There’s something for everyone and the bar staff and service is really good.

Dogs are welcomed in to the pub but must be well behaved and on a lead. There is water available on request and you’ll find that the locals will want a little cuddle or two! It can get fairly busy on a weekend which doesn’t bother our pawsome fella but if you prefer there is a small outside space if you want to take in the fresh air with a beverage.

There is limited parking at the pub but loads of car parks around and the train station just a few minutes walk. If you’re going for a stroll I would visit the National Trust landmark, Rayleigh Mount, with your four legged friend. Once housing a medieval castle, you can enjoy the wildlife and sweeping views across the Crouch Valley before heading to the pub.
