“We’ve done Catbells in the past and, although it’s classed as a moderate walk, don’t underestimate it. There’s a steep climb and some rocky, scrambly sections, so it’s not one for anyone looking for a gentle stroll. For dogs, I’d say good fitness and confidence on uneven ground are important, and keeping them under close control is essential. But then you reach the top… and those views! On a clear day, the panorama across Derwentwater, Keswick and the surrounding fells is absolutely incredible. It’s one of those places where the climb suddenly feels very worthwhile. And we made a day of it by heading to Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa afterwards for lunch. It’s a lovely way to finish the adventure, with dog-friendly areas where you can relax together. A challenging climb, incredible views and a lovely lunch afterwards, now that’s my kind of dog-friendly day out.”
