“We stayed in the shepherd hut at Sky Farm Campsite, right in the heart of Buttermere village and if you’re looking for a cosy glamping stay with walks right from the doorstep, this is definitely one to consider. The shepherd hut is small, but really thoughtfully done. Inside, there’s a comfortable double bed, a small sofa and a clever pull-out dining table, which is tucked away beneath the bed when you’re not using it. The table pulls out to create a little dining area with benches. There’s also a fully equipped little kitchen, including a fridge/freezer drawer, plus a towel heater and a lovely little wood burner which makes the hut feel especially cosy. It is compact particularly with two dogs, but we found it perfectly adequate for a short stay and really nicely finished. There isn’t a bathroom inside the shepherd hut. Instead, you use the shared campsite shower and toilet facilities. For us, this really wasn’t an issue. The facilities were literally right next to the hut, so it was just a few steps away, and everything was clean and perfectly adequate. Up to two dogs are allowed in the shepherd hut. There’s a small fenced area immediately outside, with an outdoor dining table and enough space for the dogs to have a little bit of their own outdoor area. It is not a large enclosed garden, so it’s worth bearing that in mind if you’re looking for somewhere where your dogs can have lots of freedom outside. Dogs do need to be kept on a lead around the campsite, but honestly, the location makes that really easy. You’re right in Buttermere village, with walks literally on the doorstep. CrummockWater and Buttermere are just a short walk away. ”
