Foxglove Farm is the latest addition to the Feather Down fold and one of the closest to London. 15 minutes from junction 14 off the M4 makes it one of the best placed farms we have if you live in the western suburbs. And you don’t even need to have a car. Kintbury station is a short taxi ride away and less than an hour from Paddington.

Despite its close proximity to London, Foxglove Farm is in a simply beautiful spot, nestling inside the North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. So there will be walks and picnics galore starting straight from your canvas hideaway. Inkpen Common nature reserve, an ancient heathland where rare birds and species can be seen, is just a stone’s throw away. The active amongst you will want to climb up to Walbury Hill, the highest chalk hill point in Southern England.

Once back at the farm, Kathleen and Simon have a cornucopia of animals who will be on hand during your stay. On top of the usual ducks, pigs and goats, there are Aberdeen Angus and Devon cross cattle, a large flock of commercial and Suffolk cross sheep plus a small flock of pedigree Clun Forest ewes which lamb in the spring.

Foxglove farm is a unique concept that combines the care of the land and animals with the care of people. It provides therapeutic farming related activities for a wide range of young people and adults within the Community, all under farmer supervision. It promotes physical and mental well-being, with the focus on nature based health services in the country side - providing meaningful work at a pace comfortable to the individual.

Explore this picture perfect village There’s so much going on in and around Foxglove Farm but at the same time you’ll feel like you are very much buried away in quintessential English countryside. The village of Inkpen, which you’ll be plumb in the centre of, has the Crown and Garter, which will supply your every need - as well as a welcome pint and café stops.

Further afield there are walks, bike rides and boat trips along the nearby Kennet and Avon Canal. Marlborough and Hungerford, with its plethora of antique shops are a short drive away. For the most macabre of walks, you can stride up to Combe Gibbet which was the final gory resting place of George Broomham and Dorothy Newman after they were both hung there in 1676.

What to do at Foxglove Farm You may be exhausted after all that exploring but there will be plenty of activities when you get back to the farm. Simon and Kathleen are looking forward to sharing their farm with you and the more involved you want to get the better, as far as they are concerned. There are tractor trailer tours, walks with the goats, lambing live in April and calving in the summer and their sheepdog Flint is sure to be the star of the show as you watch him round up the sheep.

When you are ready to chill out, there are camp fires to build and dinners to be enjoyed, washed down with local ales and homemade goodies from the farm in the honesty shop. You won’t be awake for long once you sink into your comfy bed at the end of an extremely full day at Foxglove Farm.
