Stonepit Field (Great Linford)
The canal runs down one side of the park, so please remember to keep your dogs under control. Also, remember to bring baggies to clean up after your dog.
Stonepit Field gets its name from the nearby small limestone quarry, long disused, from which some of the oldest buildings in Great Linford were sourced. In 2008 The Parks Trust undertook an extensive drainage and landscape remodelling project in partnership with Persimmon Homes. Two ponds were created to help control flood water and create new wetland habitat for birds, frogs, newts and dragonflies by storing rain water from the new development at Stantonbury Park Farm.
There is a public car park on the northern side of Stonepit Field, off Wolverton Road. There are no public toilets at Stonepit Field. There are no hard footpaths, just grass paths which may be difficult in bad weather.
