Carisbrooke Castle is situated in Newport in the heart of the Isle of Wight. It has previously been an artillery fortress, king's prison and a royal summer residence. There is plenty to see and do at the castle including meeting the resident donkeys or exploring The Princess Beatrice Garden. The castle welcomes our furry friends but they must be on a lead. Dogs are not allowed in to the museum or tea rooms. For the humans, there's parking available and plenty of space for a picnic on the lawn. There is also a tea room serving food and drink which is open daily from April to October, and at weekends from November to March.
