Dog Owners Guide
“The main reason to visit The Old Fort is the view. The sea views are incredible and it's just a short walk from Priory Bay, which I think is the prettiest beach on the Isle of Wight. It makes the perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner after a beach walk or a day by the sea.
The wine was excellent. I had a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, which was lovely. For my main, I went for the chilli beef tacos with fries and salad. In hindsight, I may have made the wrong choice. The flavour was good, but the taco shells felt shop-bought. My friend had the moules marinières, which looked much more impressive. For desert, I had the grapefruit semifreddo, which was well presented and really tasty.
The service wasn't the best. The team seemed fairly young and despite it being quiet inside the pub, it was a little slow and lacked attention to detail.
From a dog-friendly perspective, we weren't offered a water bowl or treats, but our dog was allowed to sit on my lap throughout the meal, which I really appreciated.
Would I come back? Absolutely. Next time I'd probably opt for drinks and a few of the small plates while soaking up the views.”
