If you’re looking for somewhere that’s a little bit different, The Lookout is definitely one to remember.
We stayed here with two dogs and absolutely loved this quirky little hand-built home, created by the owners themselves.
It’s small, but cleverly designed and beautifully decorated, with a cosy sitting area, compact kitchen, wood burner and a gorgeous king-size bed with an Emma mattress. And then there’s the bit that really makes it special…an outdoor bath with the most incredible countryside views. Imagine soaking in the bath, surrounded by open countryside and nothing but the sound of nature around you.
There are bridle paths and beautiful countryside right around you, with the coast path and sea within easy reach, and the local pub is just a short walk away.
For dogs, there is plenty of open space to explore and the owners are genuinely dog friendly. They provide dog towels, blankets, bowls and treats, and up to two dogs can stay for an additional charge. There isn’t an enclosed garden, and there are other accommodation units nearby, as well as animals on the wider property. So if you have a reactive dog, this is something I’d consider before booking.
The stairs up to the bedroom are also quite steep and don’t have a handrail, so it’s worth bearing in mind if mobility is an issue.
But for us, the combination of the unique accommodation, beautiful views, outdoor bath and peaceful countryside setting made this somewhere really memorable.
And when we stayed, we were lucky enough to have the other accommodation empty too, so it felt like we had this beautiful corner of Cornwall almost entirely to ourselves.
Quirky, peaceful and completely different from your average dog-friendly stay.
