Kingston Maurward Gardens & Animal Park
A tranquil, peaceful and intimate spot, the gardens are beautifully situated in undulating Dorset countryside, with a lake, canals, broad sweeping and formal gardens. The lovely 35 acre formal gardens were created by the Hanburys between 1915 and 1922 within the existing framework of an eighteenth century Capability Brown style parkland setting and the vestiges of a Victorian garden. ---
The Animal Park Visitor Centre sells lovely fresh bean to cup local coffee, and a wide range of teas. Next door to the Visitor Centre lies The Park Café, serving delicious baguettes with generous fillings and hot pastries, along with scrumptious hand made cakes. Open daily throughout the summer from 10am to 4.00pm. During College term time, The Coach House Café is open Monday to Friday – serves a wide variety of hot meals, salads and tasty snacks to both students and visitors. Find this next to the Main House at the heart of our estate. Visitors with Dogs
Gardens & LakesideDogs are welcome to be walked around the Gardens & Lakeside as long as they are kept on a lead. ---
Animal ParkPlease note that only assistance dogs are allowed in the Animal Park. Although we know your dog will be super friendly and well behaved, it may cause distress to our animals. ---
Visitor Centre/ShopDogs are welcome inside – so if you’re in need of a hot drink and some food, Churchill will also be welcome ---
Dogs in carsPlease remember that dogs can die in hot cars and we reserve the right to report any animals left inside cars in the car park if we feel they are in distress – but we know you wouldn’t do this ---
There is no extra charge for bringing along dogs, and we’ll make sure that we have water available for them to drink. Thank You!
