This was the first stop of our New Forest trip in June 2021. We were staying at the Avon Causeway Inn which is just down the road from the Ramsdown plantation. As with most new forest walks, free parking is available until dusk, and there were dog bins available in the car park. We headed out on a circular route, taking us through heathland and through the wooded forest. There was some fairly steep inclines in parts, and in some places the footpaths were quite wild and overgrown - so advise wearing suitable clothing to protect yourselves from thorns/ nettle plants that were around. However we did get treated to lovely views of many rhododendron bushes throughout the forest, adding lovely splashes of purple amongst the greenery. The paths became wider and more clear once we entered the forest underneath the towering trees. Apparently there is a view point available on this walk but we didn't quite feel up to the trek up the hill to get there after our long drive.
