Sutton Park (Sutton Coldfield)
This is our favourite dog friendly walking location and it is a popular place for group dog walks.
There are woodland, fields and uneven ground for the explorers but also set paved pathways for those a little unsure on their feet. There are certainly routes that are suitable for wheelchairs and prams if you plan ahead. There are also places for the dogs to swim and you really can get lost here if you chose to. Sometimes we stick to the path but othertimes we really will stray and find a new route off track. We still have so much to explore here ourselves. There is a mixture of flat ground and hills so plan your route accordingly.
There are a number of gates to enter the park through and our personal favourite is the Boldmere gate (next to Miller and Carter which for note, isn't dog friendly). Parking is free here (I've heard at some places you may need to pay). We drive all the way to the end of the road and find the quiet area to park and then avoid walking our dogs near the road which can get busy.
There is also a Toby Carvery, Information centre and children's play area on site.
The park is really popular with runners, walkers and cyclists and you may need to keep your pup on a lead when you come across them. A lot of dogs roam free in the park so it is a nice place for them to stretch their legs. You will see many dog walkers during your visit.
There are a number of car parks and these are the most common place to find bins. You can also find an ice cream van for refreshments on certain routes.
We hope you enjoy the park as much as we do.
