Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden
Whether you're a National Trust member or not, Fountains Abbey is worth a visit! There are 800 acres of land to explore so there is plenty to see and experience. Not only is the land home to the Abbey and water gardens but you can take a walk to St Mary's Church while spotting wildlife in the deer park!
The Abbey itself is huge and is particularly special from Oct - December when it is lit up with colourful lights for the Christmas season - it will sure be a sensory experience for your pup.
Fountains Abbey is set up wonderfully for dog walkers where no ground is off limits (other than the Fountains Hall). There are many options of which path to take with your dog - making it a place you'll want to go back to again and again. The entrance provides waste bags for those whose pups have dragged them out the house before you can grab them! There are plenty of outside areas for you and your four-legged friend to take a break, whether it be a picnic in the gorgeous grounds or a choice between two tea rooms! We would highly recommend the Studley tea room as this is where you'll get lakeside views with your cream tea! The visitor centre also provide water bowls.
They hold events all throughout the year so do be sure to check out the website - you will find fun for all the family.
The Abbey was originally built for monks seeking to find a simpler and more peaceful existence so you can just imagine how beautiful it is. We'd recommend at least 3 hours to explore but you could stay longer as there is plenty to do and see. Rain, snow or sunshine you and your beloved dog are going to have a great day out!
