The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is situated in Ryde. This award winning attraction is family and dog friendly. They enjoy welcoming our furry friends in both 1st and 3rd class carriages. Dogs must have their own Dog ticket for the journey but these can only be booked at the ticket office (not currently available online). The railway passes through 5 ¹⁄₂ miles of countryside from Smallbrook Junction to Wootton station, passing through the small village of Havenstreet. There is plenty to see and do when hopping off at the different stations including a woodland walk at Havenstreet.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is such a fun attraction to visit, especially if you’re a tourist to the island. It’s a lovely way to experience something a little different, and dogs are welcome on the steam trains too, although they’re not allowed on the seats.Dogs travel free of charge, which is great, although I do think the tickets for humans are a little on the expensive side. At the time of writing, tickets were £26 for third class or £39 for first class. Parking is free though and you can also wander around the station platforms without buying a ticket.Overall, it’s a really lovely thing to do if you’re visiting the Isle of Wight, and definitely worth experiencing at least once!
