Dogs are free to ride and Missy was even given her own ticket which amused us no end. She was permitted everywhere on the boat, which allowed us to shelter from the worst of the weather.
Taking the train and then joining the cruise is a fantastic day out for everyone, you can travel to Ambleside or Bowness for lovely walks, great dog friendly places to eat and lots to explore - and it's great not to have to find a parking space for the car, much easier to leave it near the aquarium in Lakeside. Can get a bit chilly on the boat so take a coat and then sit and relax and enjoy the amazing Lake District views.
There can be queues at busy school holiday times but the boats are large and regular so it's not a problem. Highly recommended.
