The Old Black Horse
The Old Black Horse is a traditional country pub and kitchen located in Mapperley Village on the edge of Shipley Country Park. We serve food 6 days a week, including our famous ‘Carvery’ Sunday lunches. Our head chef, Tony, uses fresh ingrediants to create the delicious dishes on our menu, and his ever changing specials boards.
We are a ‘Free House’ which means we are completely independent and not tied to any brewery, allowing us to bring you a great selection of drinks from all over the world, including local real ales, specialist gins, and international wines.

Dogs are welcomed in certain areas and Sunday lunch is so good I’d recommend booking a table so you’re not disappointed.
Individual bowls of water not offered for dogs, however bowls are around bar area. No treats, although if you’re lucky you can get a taste of the meat on offer from your hoomans!
When pubs were shut in lockdown they were offering takeaway. Pawrents loved their loaded fries, and as you can see I was happy with my sausage! 😋
