Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve

Image

Carlton Marshes is located in the Waveney Valley at the southern end of the Norfolk Broads and is part of the Suffolk Broads. The reserve is full of numerous habitats such as grazing marshes, fens, peat pools and fen meadows. It can see an influx of different flower, bird, insect and animal species, throughout the year.

There are currently three walking trails open and a fourth is opening late 2021. All trails have bird hides, free to use. The trails vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours to walk around and most are accessible for wheelchairs. Trail colours are orange, blue, red and black.

Dogs are welcome on the reserve but must be kept on a lead within the signposted areas - They must be on leads on the red, orange and black walking trails but can be off lead on the blue trail.

Entry into the reserve is free and there is also free parking on site. There is a cafe and shop located at the visitor centre and also an outdoor picnic and play area. Toilets and baby changing facilities are also on site.

Open daily, all year round, from dawn till dusk.
