Bamburgh Castle Beach

Bamburgh Castle rises above a huge expanse of golden sand on the Northumberland coast, creating one of the most impressive backdrops for a dog walk in the UK.

We've picked out a roughly 3.5-mile circular route starting close to Bamburgh Castle, combining the spectacular coastline around Bamburgh with the surrounding countryside. It's a relatively easy walk, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beach and those famous views of the castle.

Bamburgh Beach is dog friendly all year round, with no seasonal restrictions, so dogs can enjoy the sand whatever time of year you visit. There's plenty of space to explore, and our Ambassadog @lifewithmyspaniels knows this stretch of the Northumberland coast well and describes it as relatively flat and easy walking, with plenty of space for dogs to run along the shoreline.

If you've got time after your walk, Bamburgh Castle itself is well worth exploring. Dogs are welcome within the castle's outdoor grounds, although they aren't permitted inside the castle buildings.
