“We absolutely loved visitingPenny’s House Café in the beautiful village of Churchtown, just outside Southport. Set amongst the lovely old cottages and thatched buildings, it’s such a charming setting and feels like the perfect place to stop after a walk at the local park the Botanic Gardens. What really makes Penny’s House stand out is that it’s not simply a café that allows dogs, but dogs really are part of the experience. There’s a dedicated dog menu with a fantastic variety of choices, so our four-legged friends are certainly not limited to the odd biscuit or puppuccino! Since the new ownership, it’s lovely to see how much they are developing the café and bringing the community together. There are dog breed meet-ups, dog parties, baby groups, running groups, evening events and more, with extended opening hours too. The examples you’ve shown really demonstrate that they’re creating somewhere for people to come together, not just somewhere to grab a coffee. The whole place has such a welcoming, friendly feel, and we love the fact that there is something for both dogs and their humans. It feels like a café with a real sense of community with a very definite dog-loving heart. Definitely one to add to your dog-friendly Southport list.”
