Petersham Nurseries is fundamentally connected to nature. From horticultural roots, to the seasonality of our food.

A charmingly casual yet sophisticated restaurant, set within a glasshouse. Brimming with fragrant bougainvillea and jasmine, draped with Indian blinds and decorated with antique furniture, mirrors and paintings. Respecting the slow food philosophy, the café serves seasonal, Italian inspired food. Dogs are warmly welcomed here in both the garden centre and cafe.

Natural light is key. At Richmond they predominately open during the day, flooded by natural light across the site and in our glasshouses, whilst in Covent Garden they are privileged to have a beautiful central Court Yard, bringing natural light into an inner-city location.

“Petersham Nurseries is a beautiful place to spend at least a couple of hours, with a wonderful selection of plants, homeware, and a fantastic restaurant with a Michelin Green Star. The food is pricey but really delicious, and the plant-covered interiors are beautiful. They also do a lovely seasonal afternoon tea. Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor and teahouse areas as long as they’re kept on a lead, but if you’re dining in the glasshouse restaurant you need to let them know in advance that you’ll be bringing your dog. One thing to bear in mind is that much of the ground is unpaved, so after wet or dry weather you can expect dusty or muddy paws! Parking is very limited onsite so be prepared for a small walk, perhaps from Richmond Park parking or from Richmond town. ”
