Slapton sands is a memorial for 1943 D day allied forces. There is a memorial monument on the beach.
Alongside the beach is Slapton ley which is a popular nature reserve.

Me and Brock went here today. Oeiginally we had wanted to go to blackpool sands but were informed when we arrived that it wasn't dog friendly until November (Shame).
We were told to go to slapton sands and my god! Such a lovely long walk and the parking wasn't too badly priced either! Brock enjoyed himself so much.
*would say that it's best to take food and drink with you as these areas are a bit expensive
