Walk along to the lighthouse from Ferryden with views over to Montrose and beyond.

If you’re looking for a peaceful coastal walk with incredible views, the walk out to Scurdie Ness Lighthouse is one of Montrose’s hidden gems. Starting in the village of Ferryden, the tarmac path follows the coastline all the way to the lighthouse, with stunning views across the North Sea and the entrance to Montrose Harbour. It’s an easy walk that’s suitable for most dogs and owners, and there’s always something to see – from fishing boats and cargo ships to seals bobbing in the water. On a lucky day, you might even spot dolphins offshore. It’s one of those walks that never gets old, no matter how many times you visit.

Lovely walk from Ferry Den to the Lighthouse. I made a few friends along the way and enjoyed a wee paddle in the sea too. Of course we had to stop for some photos!

Here is what Mooma thinks - "We love this path, the road round to the lighthouse is flat and wide so fine for prams and mobility scooters or kids on bikes too. Its not a long walk to the lighthouse itself from the carpark in the village but you can venture further and signposts show the way (careful, sometimes sheep in the field). Lovely walk with great views."
