Creag Leacach

Located in the south-west corner of the Mounth plateau in Angus, Creag Leachan rises to a height of 987m (3,238 feet).

Its name is derived from the Gaelic for ‘slabby rock’, an apt description of the ridge leading to the summit, which is covered in scree and boulders.

The summit ridge is the normal access route from Glas Maol with a dry stone wall defining the route between the summits.

Creag Leacach can also be ascended following the path from the A93 road to the col between Meall Gorm (759m) and the SW top (943m) of Creag Leacach.

Many hikers climb Creag Leacach either at the start or the end of a round of Munros on the eastern side of the A93, but it can be used as a perfect leg-stretcher on its own.
