Huntingtower Castle

Explore the castle where Mary Queen of Scots and her new husband Lord Darnley stayed during the Chaseabout Raid – when they saw off a rebellion – and uncover some dramatic episodes in Scotland’s story. Take turns to have a look at the delicately painted ceiling dating from about 1540 and painted plasterwork of a similar date.

Dogs are permitted on the grounds only and not in the property itself. The Historic Scotland policy states dogs must be on lead and attended to at all times, so it is recommended to visit this property in at least a pair to allow turns to be taken.

Whilst dogs arent permitted in the little castle, the grounds and gardens offer plenty to explore whilst you take turns.

Its a little off the beaten track, and worth the detour.
