Dirleton Castle & Gardens

Dirleton, built in the 1200s, offers a combination of beautiful gardens and grim history. Dogs, on lead, are allowed throughout the property and there is plenty to see and do. In the spring and summer the gardens provide a splash of colour and there is always the dungeon to seek ghosts out in. Watch out though, the steps can be uneven.Keep an eye on the events calendar on the website, there are often fun demonstrations and interesting talks going on through the summer, although nervous and noise reactive dogs may want to avoid the annual Siege event where there are musket and cannon demonstrations.If you want to make a day of it, this castle can be paired with the equally dog friendly Tantallon Castle which is only 15 minutes drive away.
