Loch Muick

Loch Muick is located 8 miles south west of Ballater in Aberdeenshire, and is part of the Balmoral Estate. Loch Muick is found at the foot of Lochnagar, one of Scotland’s finest mountains. The area has many walking routes and a variety of wildlife including grouse and deer. Facilities include a visitor centre and a car park.

If you’re looking for a proper adventure with your dog, Loch Muick is hard to beat. The circular walk around the loch is one of those walks that never feels boring, with mountain views, peaceful shoreline paths and plenty of places to stop for a drink or a photo. Whether your dog loves splashing in the water or simply enjoys a long walk somewhere quiet, this is a fantastic place to spend a few hours. It feels wonderfully remote without being difficult to reach, and it’s one of those locations you’ll probably want to come back to in a different season to see how much the scenery changes.
