Caerlaverock Castle
A great adventure for the whole family. Your dog will be sniffing the history all day while the kids are busy exploring all the artefacts. There’s a lovely little cafe, where you can pick up some snacks and there are plenty of picnic tables, for you to enjoy them on. Its fairytale appearance means the castle is also a popular filming location. Caerlaverock features in The Decoy Bride, a romantic comedy starring David Tennant and Kelly Macdonald.

A great wee castle - the only one in Scotland with an actual moat! Dogs are permitted throughout the castle and there is plenty to see and explore.
