The Crown Inn - Rhayader
The Crown Inn is situated in the heart of Rhayader town centre. The bar area offers an open fire place, wooden beams and appears to be steeped in history.
Just up from the pub is a free, large, outdoor car park and if you carry on up the hill there are beautiful scenic walks! Although there is quite a lot of livestock, so might be worth keeping your dog on a lead, if they get excited by sheep and cows!
Dogs are allowed inside the pub, they have a separate function room at the back where dogs are welcome and water bowls are on offer. The function room is quite small, so busy periods (like a Saturday evening) I would recommend ringing ahead to book a table. When I was there they had dogs of all sizes, my cockapoo and mums bichon along with other couples spaniels and a labradoodle!
The food here was lovely and very well priced considering the portion sizes!
Staff were very friendly, although I would like to point out that although dogs are allowed, it wasn’t the friendliest of doggy establishments. No fuss or acknowledgement was made of our dogs, aside from clocking them and sending us out the back. They also have signs up warning that if your dog poos in the garden area you will be asked to leave. Not sure how you would stop that happening, luckily ours didn’t while we were there, but even if that had happened it would have been picked up by myself, so I couldn’t really see the issue.
Overall the town itself is super dog furiendly, with numerous pubs to take them and even a cafe/chocolate and sweet shop that welcomes them! Will be trying out more places in Rhayader tomorrow, so I will update on those as and when ☺️
