Mirehouse & Gardens

The gardens feature a woodland areas and many other spaces for you and your dog to explore including a Bee Garden, an orchard filled with traditional Cumbrian fruit trees and a heather path maze based on the design of the famous turf mazes by the Solway. As well as the beautiful gardens Mirehouse offers a circular walk, about a mile long, which takes you through the parkland, woods, and along the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake before looping back to the entrance.

The grounds at Mirehouse are certainly dog friendly. Dogs are welcome in the grounds (though not in the playgrounds) on a short lead at all times. As the walks pass through farmland, please give farm animals plenty of space to not feel intimidated.
