The red-hued sandy beach at Firemore, near Poolewe, is where the locals come for summer bathing and watersports. The secret of this lovely destination is the water temperature. The gulf stream runs close by, so the waters here tend to be as warm as you’re going to get on the western highland coast. Dogs allowed.
