First of all, I think it’s amazing to find a museum that is this dog friendly. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier towards our little schnauzer Opie (and us) and were all very knowledgeable about the history of the jail, sharing some very interesting stories! We found the whole experience to be really fascinating, informative and fun at the same time! Opie loved being able to wander in and out the cells/ through the courtroom/ up and down the stairs/ on the grass in the courtyard etc as well as being able to say hello to other visitors and staff. I’d say that you could spend maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours wandering around the museum reading all the information, looking at the exhibits and listening to the audit guide (which is obtainable through your mobile phone once inside the museum). At £11.50 an adult, I thought that was very reasonable! If you do intend on visiting you can buy tickets in advance online and pay only £10.50 per adult. Well worth a visit!
