Culzean Castle
Enormous country park, with lots to see and do as well as fantastic dog walking trails. This glorious 260ha estate was once the playground of David Kennedy, 10th Earl of Cassillis – a man who was keen to impress with his wealth and status. The park is planted with conifers and beech, sculpted around miles of sandy coastline dotted with caves, and finished off with a Swan Pond, an ice house, flamboyant formal gardens and fruit-filled glass house.
The castle itself is perched on the Ayrshire cliffs, incorporating everything the earl could wish for in his country home. It was designed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century and is filled to the turrets with treasures that tell the stories of the people who lived here.

Our little dog is forever acting like royalty so felt applicable to head to a castle for a day! Culzean Castle is stunning, the grounds are amazing and there are so many different routes you can walk! The cafe has outdoor space and has lovely homemade food. Dogs aren’t allowed in the castle but that certainly didn’t effect our day at all.
Beautiful walks through the forest and near the sea, as far as I'm aware dogs aren't allowed in the actual castle, but there is more than enough to explore around the grounds! There is a cafe with outdoor seating, a gift shop, and a little book shop which is lovely.. I highly recommend this place, it is simply stunning ?
