Location
Top Pond, Heads of the Valleys Rd, Merthyr Tydfil CF48, UK
One of our local pond walks, the pond is peaceful with minimal dog walkers and allows for walkers to utilise the tarmac/grass paths to walk all the way around the pond. Parking is available however it is minimal but it is free and allows easy access to the path to the pond. The main path is a mixture of tarmac/grass towards and around the pond. There are manmade paths which are grass paths which lead onto other walking routes around Merthyr Tydfil. If you follow a certain trail you can even go and visit other local attractions in Merthyr Tydfil which can make your walk a lengthy one. The pond has no facilities as it is situated in the Valley's mountains. However, you can access Asda Supermarket if you follow the Tarmac path however it isn't dog friendly. This walk is lovely in the summer and makes a great spot for a summer picnic sitting by the pond with family/friends and your companions.
