The Great Orme

The Great Orme is a limestone headland in Llandudno. Rising 207m out of the sea, it is a 'mini-mountain' full of things to do, see and explore, rich in natural beauty and fascinating history.

Its different habitats, ranging from rich heathlands to sheer sea cliffs, limestone grassland to woodland, support a wide variety of plants and wildlife including rare species such as Choughs and species unique to the Great Orme such as the Silver-studded blue butterfly. The Great Ormes most famous residents are the wild Kashmir goats who graze the headland freely along with sheep.

You can reach the summit either by car, on foot, by cable car or the tram. Dogs are welcome on the cable cars and tram too.  The cable cars will take you straight to the summit but if you take the tram, you can stop halfway and visit the Copper Mines (you're dog can explore the mines with you!)

When you reach the summit you will find the summit complex, perfectly positioned to enjoy striking views stretching in all directions, from Snowdonia to Anglesey, Ireland to England you can see it all! With a cafe/restaurant, a bar, a gift shop, a childrens playground and a crazy golf course. With outdoor seating, picnic benches and plenty of places for a picnic.

You can take your dog into the Great Orme visitor centre, onto the family golf course and your dog can even join you to both the open air and indoor services at St Tudnos Church.  You can also take your dog to the snowsports centre where you can ride the toboggan, play crazy golf or take part in the snow sports. Dogs obviously can't join in with these activities but they can wait with you in the Alpine lodge cafe where you will have views over the dry ski slope.

The Great Orme is a beautiful place to enjoy a walk with your dog, with incredible views and plenty of different well marked routes to take. Trails include Haulfre garden trail. zig zag path trail, Happy Valley trail and the nature trail.

You can also walk (or drive) around the Great Orme by following the path around marine drive and there is a half way cafe to stop for refreshments.

There really is something for everyone on The Great Orme!
